What Color is Aqua?
As with most colors, there is a great range of color when we talk about aqua. It can range from turquoise, from almost green and teal, to a very pale aqua color, as in light aquamarine gemstones. The color aqua can range between a very green hue to a darker blue hue. On the color wheel you'll find aqua between the true green and true blue segments.
The color turquoise, one hue of aqua, is soothing, purifying, and calming and many believe that wearing the stones can help to buildup the immune system and fight off inflammatory diseases. Aqua has long been associated with emotional healing and protection, and is, therefore, a calming influence on your spaces.
Aqua is a great color to use in a bedroom or bathroom. In addition, for those of you who are decorating a seaside home, aqua is a color that imitates the sea. Using aqua as a wall color, or as an accent color ties in the color of the ocean.
The current trend is to combine aqua with espresso brown and beige, but take a look at the color wheel. There are lots of other interesting color combinations. Try mixing greens and blues, with crisp, clean white walls. Paint wainscotting white or beige with aqua colored walls, and aqua, green and blue accents.
There is no right or wrong when decorating with color. If you are on a budget, just add aqua colored pillows or linens to a room, and you will dramatically change the look of the room for just a small amount of money.
