Organize Your Clothes Closet in Nine Easy Steps

If you are like many of us, you are afraid to open your closet door! Finding the right outfit can be a chore when things are not in order. Here are nine easy steps to organize your clothes closet.
  1. Make space - most of us don't have huge closets. Do you have things in your clothes closet that should be stored elsewhere? Make more space by moving out the tennis rackets, and anything else that you are storing in your closet that doesn't belong there.
  2. Be realistic - if you haven't used it or worn it in the past year, get rid of it! Throw it away, or donate it to charity - and be ruthless. Do you really need that old prom dress anymore?
  3. Try it on - Try on everything that you plan to keep, and be honest with yourself. Does it really look good on you? If not, get rid of it too.
  4. Arrange - establish categories, grouping like items. Hang shirts together with shirts, dresses with dresses, etc.
  5. Sort - sort and arrange each category by color, length, season, etc.
  6. Save time - store socks and under garments in the closet in plastic or acrylic boxes you can see through. You'll save a lot of time and effort when you can select the right socks and underwear without having to go into another area of the room.
  7. Sweater Protection - Store sweaters folded rather than on hangers.
  8. Shoes - if you can, fit in a shoe rack or two to organize your footwear into neatly paired shoes.
  9. Accesories - get some of those inexpensive hangers designed especially for ties, belts, or scarves. Then hang the ties near the shirts, belts nexxt to the pants, etc.

Don't wait, take the time to organize your closet and you'll be much happier.
